Funny things the kids say

Will
We were having Will draw at church the other day to occupy him. It wasn't working very well because he kept saying he was done coloring, so Shawn would ask him to draw something else. Shawn would ask him to draw a house and Will would say "I can't" Then Shawn would ask hime to draw a picture of Vivi and Will said "I can't" This went on and on until Shawn asked why he couldn't draw any of these things and Will looked at Shawn like he was crazy and said "Dad I only draw spiders and robots"! So we had him draw a whole bunch of these until Shawn asked if he could draw sausage? You have to understand that Will is the hugest carnivore I've ever seen, and sausage is his favorite meat. He LOVES to have sausage for breakfast. So he looks at us with amazment like why didn't I think of that and loudly and excitedly says "Yes, I can draw sausage!!!". So now he can draw spiders, robots and sausage- but nothing else :)

Claire
Shawn thought it would be a good idea to teach Claire one of the arts of protecting herself against mean boys (a good kick in between the legs) He said she could only use this move if a boy was ever mean to her and no one else was around to help her. Anyway, he tells her what to do and she looks at him with fear and says "I can't kick someone there Dad I'll go to prison" I don't know where she got that idea, but it made us laugh when we were alone. She now know's it's ok only for self defense.

Sick and Complaining and FHE

I know no one likes to hear a complainer, but waaaaaa, we've been sick for three weeks. Everyday I wake up thinking OK this is the day we are on the mend, and then a few hours later I'm cleaning throw up off the carpet and bed sheets, or someone is oozing goop out of a pink eye. Seriously, I am Done- yes with a capitol D. Shawn's had a bad cold and major pink eye. I should have taken a picture of his eye because it was gross. Then Claire got pink eye. Then Will had the flu and then pink eye. Then I had some sort of flu and then pink eye, and then Vivi had pink eye and a bad cold/cough. Mostly I hate pink eye. I don't know how we've all gotten it. I've washed everything soooooo much. I don't think there has been a day in these three weeks that I haven't done laundry, but still we've all gotten sick. I'm ready to be better. So, since we've all been sick Family Home Evening hasn't consisted of much. I think the last two times we've just stayed home and played Wii games together, but we did have treats. Can't give up the treats, and we did find a fun wii game. We rented the Toy Story Mania game from Blockbuster and really liked it. It's just like the ride at Disney California if you've been on that ride. Anyway, I think I might actually try a lesson tonight.
On another note I'm sorry if we've gotten anyone else sick. I've only gone out of the house when I thought we were all feeling better, but as I said before soon after I thought we were "better" someone else would get sick- I'm sure we've left some casualties in our wake- I'm sorry if you were one of them, and hopefully now we really are on the mend -dare I say that???? we will see......

Tie Pillows

When Claire was off track last time we made these cute tie pillows. I'm so glad we did. I wanted to make them just for a fun craft for the kids, but it ended up that Claire learned how to tie pretty quickly after making these. We had been working on getting Claire to tie her shoes, and now she's a pro! Plus she has a cute pillow :) I made Will's but he sat and watched me and he loves it!

Armor of God

We had our Family Home Evening lesson on Monday about the Armor of God. I printed off three pictures (a firefighter, police officer, and army person). We talked about what they wear and have to help them and keep them safe. Then we told the kids it's just as important for us to have on the whole armor of God. We read about the armor in Ephesians and then the kids tried on our make believe armor of God when each verse was read about each part of the armor. The kids loved it! Here are pictures of them in their armor. And another one taken in the middle of FHE of the kids making forts out of the pillows- this is usually how it goes :)

One Less Tooth!

Claire lost her first tooth yesterday! I think she is one of the last ones in her first grade class to loose a tooth, so she was ready for this to happen. It happened at church. She was in primary and it fell out! All of the kids were crowded around her trying to see the tooth. Silly kids. Anyway, the tooth fairy wasn't prepared with money on a Sunday- bad tooth fairy- so we told Claire that the tooth fairy doesn't work on Sunday- she needs a day off right? So she will come tonight. Claire thought that sounded fine and she is excited for tonight! She keeps asking question like how does the tooth fairy get into our home.... something I've never thought about. I need to do a little more thinking about the tooth fairy. Anyway, we are excited to have her come tonight!

Pretty Pretty Princess?

I was busy last week and didn't have a chance to post our Family Home Evening, but we did have it. We talked about prayer again, but that's because I've noticed that our prayers have become repetitious. So, we talked about the basics of prayer how we thank Heavenly Father for things- because he's given us everything. I told the kids they need to be observant of the little things each day that they are given and thank Heavenly Father for those as well as the big obvious things. Then we talked about how Heavenly Father can help us with every thing and that we can ask him in prayer to help us. Last we talked about how it's important to pray for other people too. We need to think of people in our lives that need some extra help and pray for them- I want my family to think about other people not just ourselves. Then to get the ball rolling we asked for the kids to think of three things they are thankful for and three things they could specifically ask help for from Heavenly Father. This turned out well because I could actually see them thinking of different things. Anyway, we then had blueberry cobbler- yum, and played Pretty Pretty Princess (Claire got to choose the activity).
